YEARS OF OPERATION

1976 – 1990

MANDATE AND OPERATIONS

Mandate: Established by the World Council of Churches to document the human rights violations during the 1954-1989 military rule of Alfredo Stroessner.

Results: 360,000 persons spent time in prison (of a population of 3 million.) and 1,5 million exiled. All other human rights abuses are documented, including the involvement of the United States.
