The training package, developed by CSVR, is aimed at civil society organisations in countries undergoing transition that are engaged in research, intervention and advocacy initiatives in relation to transitional justice and reconciliation. It seeks to address various issues around transitional justice, reintegration, institutional transformation and reconciliation.
The package is structured in the form of a range of training workshops that could be implemented individually or in combination. It uses the methodology of participative learning to assist participants to grapple with the issues as they apply in their context. Lessons learnt by South African civil society organisations that have engaged around the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, as well as broader issues of justice and reconciliation, are reflected on in order to facilitate lesson learning across different contexts.

Each module focuses on a specific theme and addresses key issues for civil society to consider. It includes information on how the issue was dealt with in South Africa, lessons learned and a discussion of broader aspects of the theme.
